Unglazed Windows

Fixed Sashes
Three light wide (Venetian) windows, 1670mm and 1895mm wide, normally have fixed outer sashes – but we can supply them with sliding sashes if required.

Finishing
We supply our sliding sash windows primed as standard or basecoat stained as an option. We strongly recommend factory finishing with Hi-Build stain or Hi-Build paint.
We recommend you use the JELD-WEN cavity closer system when installing factoryfinished windows.
Sills
We supply these windows with a standard flush 168 x 56mm sill. A projecting 196 x 56mm sill is also available as an option.
Weatherstripping
Weatherstrips are fitted to the top rail of the top sash, bottom rail of the bottom sash, and the meeting rails. Vertical pile weatherstrips are fitted to both jambs and sashes.
These strips are designed to provide an increased weather-resistance rating and to limit the lateral movement of the sashes.
Fire Escape
To meet the requirements of Building Regulations Approved Document 'B' 2000, there must be escape routes from habitable rooms in many situations. Windows 860mm wide x 1350mm high, or larger, are suitable for use as Fire Egress windows. Please state when ordering if your windows are for fire escape purposes.
Sash Fitch Catch
We fit each window with a key-lockable fitch catch as standard – in gold, chrome, or white effect.
Sash Lifts
We supply sash lifts as standard, loose in pairs for on-site fixing. Their finish matches the fitch catch.
Opening Sash Safety Restrictors
You can order optional opening sash restrictors with your window, to restrict the vertical travel of the bottom sash. Pleasequote “supplied with sash safety restrictor” when ordering.
Horns
All our top sashes have traditional ‘horns’ as standard. A no-horn option is also available – please specify this when ordering.
Tilt Facility
All opening sliding sashes can be tilted inwards to make cleaning or painting easier. This is simple to do, by releasing two catches on the upper surface of the top rail of each sash and tilting the sash inwards. The spiral balances are automatically locked in position as soon as the sash is tilted inwards. This keeps the bottom rail at a constant height while in the tilt position. Restrictors support the bottom sashes in the tilt position.
Sash Balances
We fit fully adjustable spiral balances to all sliding sashes, preset to support the weight of double-glazing. You may need to make minor adjustments for optimum ease of use after installation. You’ll find full instructions and an adjusting key in each window pack.
